2. Assin Kruwa Bread/Bakery & Juice Bar Project
Project Overview:
Assin Kruwa is located in a remote rural area in the forest of Kakum National Park, C.R. Ghana, West Africa whereas, housing is sub-standard, and the towns-folks are subsistence farmers of Cocoa (chocolate) who get exploited by Nestles, Hershey Corporations and the Moratorium from their own government, make it impossible to prosper, they grow citrus fruits: oranges, limes, pineapples, and palm/oil, coconuts, yams, tomatoes, etc. as such. The town cannot afford to pay for hotel/guesthouse for the volunteers/teachers & professionals who will offer their training skills and provide goods /services to their Community Improvement Projects. There is no designated Bungalows Housing for volunteers/special guests/professionals, or tourists. Often, the town must compensate homeowners for rentals of single rooms during the stay of volunteers/special guests, teachers, etc. This depletes our town’s program/project funds, which are already hard to obtain. The Volunteer Bungalows Project will ensure that our volunteers and teachers/professionals & guests are placed in a comfortable/semi-contained, and safe environment upon the 2 acres of land obtained for Proverbs 8 Empowerment Projects. Our Guesthouse/Bungalow Project will promote ecological tourism, provide safe havens chalets for tourists who want to leave the noisy city/town behind and enjoy the natural surroundings of our village, and also enjoy guided tours of our beautiful rainforest, receive sound baths, enjoy healing ceremonies, and cultural /spiritual arts enrichment programs. The Volunteers can have comfortable living facilities and can interact with residents/friends/colleagues, etc., leisurely.

2. The Assin Kruwa Bread/Pastry & Juice Bar Project Overview:
The Assin Kruwa Bread/Pastry Project & Juice Bar Project is geared to train 24 teenagers/women & rural residents to the art of baking bread/pastries and to train them how to run an Income Generating Project. Our training courses are done in Two (2) - 24 Week Sessions per year. We are now seeking funds/grants /donations/goods & services to establish a Permanent Training Center and Bread Pastry Operation in Assin Kruwa
This project will create self-employment opportunities in this rural village that suffers from high unemployment, illiteracy, teen pregnancies, and sub-standard education.
This project will assist local and rural girls/women/rural residents in acquiring new business skills and opportunities, to motivate/guide them to become independent business persons. The Assin Kruwa Bread/Pastry Project will create jobs/opportunities from commission selling – management level. Assin Kruwa is located within Kakum National Park; it is a remote village in the rain forest of Central Region of Ghana and just above the Asuansi Technical Institute, one of Ghana’s Oldest Manpower Training Centers/High School From the town of Ambrakrampa to Asuansi there are no organized bread pastry bakeries or community operated bakery projects/businesses; this forces the villagers and town vendors to travel 15 km – 25km to Yamoransa or Cape Coast to purchase fresh bread for consumption or for selling within their villages. Much money and time is wasted in seeking “seeking our daily bread.”
Our village received funds from World Vision, Ghana &Village Volunteers Inc. of Washington State in the USA in 2005-2006 for our Pilot Bread-making Project, it was quite successful under the former organization: The Women of Proverbs 8 which raised contributions from individuals/local businesspersons in the amount of: $5,500.00 USD. This project enrolled 12 rural resident women from November 2005 to August 2006, for Two 6- Weeks Training Sessions/Courses. Everything Was Much Cheaper Then.... And We sold Bread To The Viilagers & Guesthouses In the Cape Coast Area. Our Bread Bakery Was In Demand.
We Had Clientele Who Supported Our Project Then & We Are Now Peaking Interest In Our New Efforts, Whereas They Will Re-Commit Their Support.
The Objectives of Assin Kruwa Bread/Pastry Project Are:
1. To offer new skills that will increase the personal incomes of rural girls/women/residents
2. To establish a successful Bakery and Snack/Juice Bar in our town for tourists, villagers, and to the general public.
3. To provide and encourage an Inter-generational Program that will bring teens and older women together and to promote “Positive Inter-action between older women and teens” in order to close the generation gap.
4. To use “on-the -job training skills” as a means to instill/monitor the practices of food safety/hygienic procedures by trainees for quality control.
5. To promote Family Wholesomeness/Womanhood Preparedness, prevent teen pregnancies, premarital sex, spread of HIV/STD’s, and to promote entrepreneurship training/projects/program. Our Biggest Funding Challenge: Construction Costs:
Construction of 4 Main Project Buildings:
-

2 - Public Restrooms 8 X 8 Sq. ft., (Construction Requires: Septic Tanks, Water Tanks/Towers, Electrical/Plumbing, etc.)
